Women’s Training Center in Barentu inaugurated

A women’s training center built in Barentu at a cost of 9 million Nakfa was inaugurated on Saturday 26 May 2007.

The Center that was built with funding by Eritrean women who reside in Germany and the collaboration of Badme Construction Company includes offices, recreation centers and other facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson of the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW), Ms. Luul Gebreab, said that Eritrean women inside the country and abroad have played significant role in the independence struggle and commended the efforts exerted by NUEW members in Germany.

Also in remarks he made during the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, Administrator of Gash- Barka region, stated that training women means training the entire society and that the opening of the training center is expected to help tackle social problems women encounter. He further expressed appreciation to the Eritrean women residing in Germany and Badme Construction Company for their collaboration.

The NUEW branch in the region and the local inhabitants presented gifts to members of NUEW in Germany and to those who made contribution to the project.
