NUEW Seminar in Zoba Anseba

Around 3000 women participated in a seminar organized by the NUEW branch in Zoba Anseba from 15th  to 21st  May 2003. They discussed the outcome of the 6th NUEW congress and the role of women in Eritrean society.

Participants pledged to ensure the successful implementation of the Warsai Yikaalo programme for development in Eritrea.

Frankfurt: NUEW Members in Germany hold their 16th Congress. The conference slogan was "Women can make a difference". 

During the Congress the activities of the past 2 years were discussed. Members elected a 10 member committee to serve a two year term to give momentum and oversight to its activities. 

In the congress, participants decided to support the construction of a Vocational Training Center in Barentu and to strive to complete the different development projects the group is currently supporting in Eritrea.

Participants of the congress promised to do their utmost to support the Warsai Yekaalo campaign. They expressed their gratitude and satisfaction with what the government and the people of Eritrea have accomplished as of this campaign so far. In addition they reaffirmed their commitment to the struggle for the interests of the people of Eritrea.

The congress closed with the following resolutions. 

    - to identify women's problems and work hard to overcome them 

    - for skilled females professionals too visit Eritrea 
    - to strengthen the organization of NUEW members in Germany
    - to coordinate to help victims of the drought

Recommendations passed at the meeting included:  

  • To call upon all Eritrean women to organize themselves as part of NUEW, to know their rights, to work      hard for the overall interest of Erirean society in general and particular for the interest of Eritrean women.

  • To aim to make women politically, socially and economically aware so that they will be motivated to gain different vocational and professional skills.
