NUEW Conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation Training workshop in Asmara
NUEW organized a workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation for the project of anti-FGM/C campaign from 20-24 August 2007 at Embasora hotel. Two expertises from Kenya Ms. Judith Kunyiha- Karogo- programme officer UNFA Kenya country office and Mr Osaterin Adonri monitoring and evaluation specialist from Nigeria gave the training. The participants of the workshop were 26 representatives from different ministries (MOH, MOE), organizations (NUEW, NUEYS) and representatives from the six administrative zobas.
UNFPA representative Mr. Derrick Jena opened the workshop by giving an introduction on the training in FGM/C Monitoring and Evaluation and welcomed the trainees and facilitators.
Following this, Ms. Tsega Gaim head of social service and rehabilitation (SSR) NUEW, made a presentation about the objectives of the training and the anti-FGM/C project in Zoba Debub.
The topics covered during the workshop were how to identify a problem (problem tree), basic concepts in monitoring and evaluation, practical work in development of logical and M&E frame works for NUEW, key supporting elements for under taking a campaign (such as, result oriented report, result based monitoring, the steps and component of result based management, the difference between goal, impact, outcome and output).
At the final day of the of the training, the president of NUEW Mrs. Luul Ghebreab, and Mr. Berehane G/Tinsae Director General of services (MOH), MR. Derik Jena representative from UNFA and representative from Norway Embassy attended on the closing ceremony.
President of NUEW Mrs. Luul Ghebreab, congratulated the successful training of FGM/C Monitoring and Evaluation, and forwarded her appreciation of the interest, concentration, and participation of the trainees. More over She explained as monitoring and evaluation is part and parcel of other projects, every body has to use and apply the information gained from his organization. She added that in order to achieve the objectives in a short period of time coordination and integration must be strengthened and adjusted in a workable manner among the stakeholders. She confirmed that "FGM/C will be a history in Eritrea". considering the commitment and dedication of all stakeholders.
